What an incredible location - I just love the outdoor seating area amongst the colonnades.

This is a good example of an ad that poses more questions than it answers (at least to this non-German). I now know exactly where I should go if I’m backpacking in Berlin and it starts pissing down with rain but I’m still a little unclear as to what I should do if lounge settees also start dropping from the heavens. Clearly I’m missing some important cultural reference point.
During this walkthrough video footage of the Happy Hippo Backpackers in Durban the camera pans across the kitchen area and a subtitle appears saying ‘The Spotless Kitchen’. Which made me immediately think ‘what a challenge!’ Like baking a delicious chocolate cake and putting a sign next to it saying ‘the amazing cake that can’t be finished in one sitting’. A potentially risky boast fellas!
I’ve posted this generic promo video for backpacking in Australia because its soundtrack is one of my all-time favourite songs: ‘Sunsets’ by Powderfinger, a truly great Aussie band. After food and shelter, a Powderfinger album is probably the most important item for a backpacker to secure upon arriving in Australia. Actually, that’s probably an irresponsible suggestion. Far safer to start off with AC/DC and then move on to Powderfinger.
